Alternative pedagogy, multidisciplinarity and great people

I really love this master’s program, and I will try to explain why.

Firstly, what sets this master’s program apart and seduced me is its alternative pedagogy. No more traditional courses and exams, instead, we seamlessly learn through active participation. The emphasis on projects that matter to us personally requires continuous learning and application. We engage in activities that mirror the life of a researcher: conducting experiments in laboratories for practical classes, creating and presenting posters, participating in journal clubs, and completing three internships in total.

Another important aspect of the master’s program, at least for me, is its multidisciplinary nature, which adds another layer of richness to the learning experience. Indeed, this master’s program champions multidisciplinarity, a quality increasingly valued in the research community. The program offers a great diversity of teaching units, and we have the freedom to tailor our schedules by selecting options that align with our interests, akin to an “à la carte” approach.

Finally, what I love most about this master’s program is the people. In terms of professors, the close relationship with them provides personalized guidance and support. They help us choose our direction and actively participate in shaping our future in the field. They assist us as much as possible in finding internships that match our preferences and ensure we are well-treated in environments that align with our aspirations. Regarding classmates, despite internships taking us to various corners of the globe, Japan, the United States, England, Germany, and beyond, the unexpected bonds formed within our small, tightly-knit group are strong. We are already looking forward to reunions this summer. The limited class size allows for the creation of special connections. We are thrilled to have built such strong relationships. Trust me, there were many tears shed when we had to say goodbye to those going abroad for several months, and perhaps longer…
